YOU. MUST. GET. THIS. FILM. IN YOUR LIFE. NOW. This was one of the most uplifting and warm films I have seen in some time. It literally had no one in it other than JW, so even better! It was hilarious and sweet at the same time---the two guys on the lead were AWESOME! It was a bit 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles' meets 'Napoleon Dynamite' in a way. The French guy who played GĂ©rard was a gas. It came out on IFC Films back in 2001, but I had never heard of it. Hmmm. Usually I'm quick on the ball with cute indie flicks. But OMG, JAMES. He played the 'I'm Cultured and I Know It' BF of the female lead and he is a right prat! SO funny. This guy does Tai Chi in the MUD so he can impress everyone with his je ne sais quoi. I just kept waiting for his character to fall on his ass in it, but no dice. DAMN! And oh my word, the part where he's laid up in bed sick at his GF's house and is held captive by her little sister who shows him her sticker collections and then makes him sit there and watch her rap on her karaoke machine. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! Really---he needs to do more comedy; it was a nice change of pace and it was almost as if he were taking a good-natured poke at his usual 'stuffy Brit' roles in films past with his send-up. He looked amazing in it, too. The guy has aged well, I cannot argue that. Anyway----AMAZON INSTANT VIDEO. Go rent it---and have a nice warm, funny end to your evening. Two thumbs way up! ETA: The filmmakers teased me, though, with the promise of Amy Sedaris and DID NOT DELIVER. Aaagh! I was so irritated. She was in a flash of one scene with her 'Jerri' face from 'Strangers With Candy' and then NA-DA. Not fair, people! Love that chick. She is 31 flavors of awesome.
