Just watch Maurice only 2 days ago - 25 years after it was first screened - and I just cannot stop thinking about Maurice the character and James Wilby. Wilby did an awesome job in that movie. Does he have a Facebook page now?

First of all, OH. MY. WORD. Thank you for joining! Make a post in the introduction thread if you'd like. Well, he's got a Facebook page, but it is run by some French fans, and most of it is in French. LOL It doesn't get updated much. To be honest, this guy has been thoroughly underrated---there are hardly any fan-associated sites, nor does he have an 'official' website. Urgh. :-P I am, however, hopefully working on changing that---that is, if I can get over the initial fright of contacting his agency. Oh God. *queasy* Welcome aboard!! I have had LOADS of human visitors from my JW Tumblr page and elsewhere, but you're the first to sign on. Have fun and post often!

James should be very popular in China, but... I still remember when I was 14 yrs old or some(1990s) that first watched the summer story from the television. It touched my heart that much. In China that was a time that the cultured class admired classical literatures and people's taste did not seem bad like today. At that time there was a special tv channel for foreign films and those like the summer story and a tale of two cities were repeatedly shown on screen, but sadly the television seems to be the only way for the Chinese people to know the outer world. The older Chinese must be familiar with James' appearance but surely had no idea of his name. It is just a mistake of time that James did not get his deserved reputation in China. But so what anyway? With his classical films the younger Chinese generation has got to know and welcomed James. It never be late for gold to shine! -just a story about what happened in China.

AMAZING!!! Such wonderful input, Mason. It is interesting to note that James was actually born in Myanmar---so, yes, it is really interesting how his career didn't take off in Asia. And I could not agree more--people's taste has really gone downhill in the last 25 years since I first saw James. Today's culture is more "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" than "Masterpiece Theatre". LOL
